Dinbandhu Eye Hospital in Ayodhya is Kalyaman Karoti’s giant leap towards reaching the remote communities with the medicine and treatment that can prevent blindness before it happens. Vimal Kumar Sharma was the founder of Kalayanam Karoti. In his young days, he was associated with CM of UP Mr.Chandra Bhanu Gupt (A great politician and social worker of his time) –founder of “Moti-Lal Memorial Society” in Lucknow which is doing fabulous work in the field of education and healthcare. Truly inspired by Mr. Gupt, he believed and lived by the phrase "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam"( the world is one family). In the year 1980 after the death of Shri Gupt, he went to Haridwar for peace, while walking bedsides river Ganga, donating his sweaters to the shivering men on the roadside and emptying his wallet for buying the milk for starving children couldn't contain the endless empathy in his heart. He decided to dedicate his entire life to transforming the lives of disabled people. He leads an exemplary life and his death too was a gift to society. He lost his battle with cancer but in return lit up the world of two sightless people by donating his eyes. Vimal Kumar Sharma also donated his body to the Anatomy Department of King George Medical University, Lucknow.
