Umeed Programme
Amidst the 2020 COVID-19 crisis, the collaborative "Umeed Project" emerged, featuring partners like the Foundation for Poverty Alleviation, Qasid Foundation, Basti Suraksha Manch, Bhartiya Navdeep Samiti, and compassionate individuals. Established under Section 8 of the Companies Act 2013, Project Umeed Welfare Foundation, as of August 5, 2020, leads this initiative. The Foundation for Poverty Alleviation manages domestic funds and holds an 80G exemption, while Bhartiya Navdeep Samiti is FCRA registered for foreign funds. Ongoing, the project has supported over 900,000 people through direct donations, fundraisers, and in-kind assistance to affected families.
-
Philanthropic Programmes
Addressing various philanthropic endeavours, the Foundation for Poverty Alleviation actively engages in fundraising to aid the destitute. Support includes facilitating medical treatment for women and children, sponsoring dowry-free marriages, assisting individuals in establishing livelihood opportunities, providing emergency relief during crises, and specifically focusing on COVID-19 relief and rehabilitation efforts. The ongoing commitment involves aiding those affected by the pandemic, with a particular emphasis on women and children, including support for livelihood resumption, financial assistance for medical emergencies, and aid for day-to-day survival.
-
Women Empowerment Programme
Enhancing women's empowerment and autonomy, and elevating their political, social, economic, and health statuses are pivotal for sustainable development. Globally, women confront threats to their lives, health, and education due to their limited power and influence. Foundation for Poverty Alleviation addresses these challenges by promoting economic empowerment through livelihood opportunities, forming self-help groups, facilitating women's leadership development, combating domestic violence, prioritizing women's health, and advocating for the education of girl children in less developed communities.
-
Orphan Care Programme
Navigating life as an orphan is fraught with challenges. The child's journey abruptly changes upon learning of the loss of parents, thrusting them into a world where survival depends on relatives or orphanages. Struggling for basic necessities, education, and a dignified existence becomes a daily battle. The Foundation for Poverty Alleviation dedicates efforts to uplift orphans, addressing their educational needs and daily requirements. Special emphasis is placed on supporting care-leavers, those who leave shelter homes at 18, particularly young girls facing hurdles in pursuing education and employment.
-
Education Programme
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights emphasizes the right to education for everyone, recognizing its pivotal role in social indicators and community development. Foundation for Poverty Alleviation extends its commitment beyond basic education, focusing on intellectual capital building for economically marginalized children, orphans, and other needy students. Providing books, stationery, competitive exam materials, and scholarships, the Foundation fosters empowerment through literacy and cultural activities. Operating in flood-affected districts of Araria, Bihar; Rampur, UP; and North-East Delhi, the foundation prioritizes women's equal participation in education as a catalyst for empowerment.
