SMUS is promoted by a group of active and commit Read moreted social activists and social workers for promotion of a just and equal society. SMUS is registered under the Society Registration Act in 2003 and under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act in 2010. SMUS has a well equipped and specious registered office at Nazirpur, P.O. Shekhpur, Via: Ramna in Muzaffarpur and administrative office at Zero Mile, Akharaghat Road (Laxman Eye Hospital Premises) in Muzaffarpur district in Bihar. These offices are equipped with all basic facilities like phone, fax, computers and internet along with meeting halls and libraries. The branch offices of SMUS are based at Sheohar, Darbhanga, Vaishali, Madhubani, Sitamarhi, Samastipur, East Champaran & West Champaran districts in Bihar. SMUS has a committed and devoted team of personnel (professionals, social workers and social activists), who keenly involved in all our programs and activities with sincerity and commitment. Causes and Tackling Issues- Eradication of Blindness - Eye Surgeries under Laxman Eye Hospital- SMUS is working sincerely for blindness control by establishing “Laxman Eye Hospital” (LEH) functioning since 2010 at Akharaghat (Zero Miles) in Muzaffarpur with a purpose to render quality and timely ophthalmic services to the rural poor of Bihar. The Hospital is spread over 19,000 sq. ft. supported by an experienced team of trained technical and non-technical persons to render qualitative services with spirit of dedication and sincerity to eye patients. Supported by Second Sight, London,we at Laxman Eye Hospital are dedicated to the cause of cataract blindness eradication of the poor and marginalized people of North Bihar.we undertake door to door screening and identifying the persons having cataract.The identified persons with cataract problem were brought to LEH and eye surgeries performed on them after necessary tests. The operations and other facilities like food and lodging, medicines for 8 days and dark glasses were provided free of cost to the patients.(2018-19 = 25,cataract surgeries) https://www.secondsight.org.uk/laxman Disaster Management (Food relief and Training) & Covid19- Bihar ,The Land Locked central Indian state that lies in the Gangetic basin, accounts for 16.5% of the flood-prone area and 22.1% of the flood affected population in India. The major rivers that flow through the state are- Ganga, Sone, Bagmati, Lalbakia, Budhigandak, Kamalabalan, Aadhwada, Poonpoon and the Kosi which is known as the sorrow of Bihar. They contribute to building the fertile valley in the state, but when overflowing, cover it with floods creating havoc in the life of the people. These floods are regularannual occurrence for the people in Bihar, crippling life in about twenty northern districts.In Muzaffarpur district in Bihar floods in Rivers-“Budhi Gandak” and “Baghmati” always threw life into chaos that always resulting in deaths, damaging of houses, death of animals, destruction of crop and property.Recognizing the gravity of the situation Satya Manav responded to the flood and provided foods,clothes,medical camp,training for 300 floods affected families in Musahri Block of Muzaffarpur mainly affected by the deadly river Bagmati. Pediatric Eye Emergency - After doing frequent surveys,we successfully appraised the grave situation of children having eye problems in north Bihar and started doing pediatric surgeries in LEH with positive response from the public.our outreach workers regularly visited primary schools and Anganwadi Kendra of our operational areas and identified children having visual disorders. After identification, the children were admitted in LEH and provided diagnostic and surgical services by our expert team of doctors. 102 children were successfully operated and benefitted by free distribution of spectacles, medicines and foods. In addition, eye camps were also conducted in the primary schools and identified 198 children with visual disorders.In year 2018 Ulverscroft Foundation supported pediatric work by providing us infrastructural Aid for the construction of Pediatric unit .we have now a different floor in LEH for pediatric OPD and 25 bed reserved for pediatrics. Regular examination after imparting training is held.
