We address the barriers, inequities and injustices that exist in society. Our mission is to help people to develop their full potential, enrich their lives, and prevent dysfunction. Professional social work is focused on problem solving and change. We attempt to relieve and prevent hardship and suffering. We are change agents in society and in the lives of the individuals, families and communities they serve. We respond to crises and emergencies as well as to everyday personal and social problems. We do so, by forging alliances and partnerships which will collate resources, expertise and vision - working with the most humane and dynamic organisations towards identifying basic issues of society, finding answers and driving change. Our expertise is in responding to arriving needs and being able to do work as a cooperative endeavor with no ego whatsoever. Also our ability to mould responses to be able to benefit the needy in all situations by creating appropriate and immediate connects. We work as a catalyst towards supporting livelihoods. This has been demonstrated during these times of pandemic, a few examples towards which are as follows: Food distribution to various sections of society including our medical warriors, slum pockets, rural areas, orphanages and migrant labour on the move. Supported hospitals with distribution of PPE kits. Distribution of water, caps and mask to our Covid Warriors (Policemen and Ground workers). Organised series of learning conducted by YOVEDA on TIME MANAGEMENT along with online yoga sessions for the teachers who are constantly physically and emotionally stressed doing their best throughout the day. The following are the objectives of setting up Karyamiti, which defines our means of bridging the needs and requirements of the society. 1. To foster academic education for all needy sections of society Facilitating value education and stress free living for all sectors of the society. Facilitating and conducting programs which promote transformation of the individuals towards transformation of the society. Supporting students in need by providing scholarships. Supporting schools that support education for the underprivileged. Helping towards providing nutrition in these schools. Facilitating sports activities and art and craft activities in these schools Facilitating education in the rural areas for migrant labor. Supporting needy and deserving individuals with opportunities towards higher education. Supporting students with specific needs, like stationery, books and related requirements. Facilitating skill development opportunities by connecting schools to vocational centers, imparting skills and seeking job opportunities, hence completing a cycle from learning to earning and then giving back. Supporting cultural revival and nation building by helping towards setting up of institutes which provide education towards this cause and also promote music and art that is indigenous. The emphasis is on completion of a holistic circle of empowerment, wherein, post course support for vocational placements and jobs is provided, which makes the students independent and worthy of surviving and contributing back to the society. 2. Medical Providing support to individual cancer patients along with supporting the institutes working towards this cause. Providing medical aid to needy patients. Supporting charitable hospitals by helping them provide treatment to the needy patients. Supporting facilities that provide accommodation and food for relatives of the patients from out of station. 3. Social causes Supporting orphanages by providing donations as well as helping towards establishment of the same. Supporting old age homes by donations as well as helping towards setting up these places. Supporting women empowerment causes. Supporting institutions that are established towards the above. 4. Hunger eradication in the form of the following: Supporting initiatives towards distribution of food grains to the needy and specially abled on monthly basis. Setting up community initiatives such as refrigerators/ Food banks. Facilitating feeding the dependent old ladies who are unable to work. Supporting organizations that feed children within schools. Supporting initiatives which promote social acceptance and equality. 5. Social initiatives Supporting water saving and retention setting initiatives. Supporting energy saving initiatives. Supporting pollution eradication initiatives. Supporting hygiene Initiatives. Providing help during natural calamities. We have experience having worked in this field as an active part of The Rotary club of Mumbai Lakers, as a treasurer for the last 3 years and Chapter 3 foundation, as a trustee until last year.
