The Medical Practitioners of India tried to come together to protect the future of Medicine and Health in the country and their interest. Two conferen Read moreces were held in Bombay and Calcutta, before 1895, which more or less academic and dominated by official influence. Later in 1895, an association under the name of IMA was started in Calcutta on an ALL INDIA BASIS. First President was late Rao Bahadur Dr. Lal Bahadur Mukerjee and the Secretary was Dr. J. R. Wallace. Under the Secretary’s Editor-ship the first Journal under the name “IMA Record” was published. Members were all issued the certificate of Membership. The IMA COCHIN BRANCH has an identity of its own as always putting the hand up first in case of any needs from the society. considering recent calamities even including flood time we were very happily associating our National Health Mission, Ernakulam, and district administrator.The same team is at the forefront of containing COVID 19.WE are once again with all our effort in front of supporting the National Health Mission, Ernakulam.

  • IMA Blood Bank

    State

    The first private blood bank was established in 1984 by MA Cochin Blood Bank. To boost the number of blood donors available, they launched the innovative idea of voluntary blood donation concurrently with the opening of the IMA COCHIN Blood Bank. the establishment of the Immuno-Hematology and Western Blot Test Labs in 1993, as well as the blood component separation unit's launch in 1992. Studies on coagulation and haemophilia treatment were initiated in 1997; the Haemophersis Centre was officially opened in 1998.

  • MA Medicine Bank

    State

    In 1988, IMA Cochin launched its Charitable Medicine Bank. It was primarily meant for General Hospital's underprivileged patients. The Cochin IMA members' sample medications were gathered and freely given to those in need, regardless of their sex, caste, or religion. Approximately two thousand people annually make use of the free medication supply, which is provided under the guidance of a licenced chemist from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, Monday through Friday, except public holidays and Sundays. Many homes for the impoverished use medications for their residents. Young people served both nearby and far away during the COVID pandemic and the Kerala floods.
