A non-profit organisation called Sarva Seva Samiy Sanstha (4S) focuses on the following topics: livelihoods, health, education, WATSAN, financial incl Read moreusion services, value chain development, institutions, and micro-enterprise development. The organisation has been working with the poorest of the poor households, including women, tribal communities, and other vulnerable communities, to create a "Socially, environmentally, and economically sustainable society with improved life of the rural poor and vulnerable community, especially women, of unreached area." The organisation operates in West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Uttar Pradesh. Its headquarters are in Kolkata, and its registered office is in Gaya. To reach Eastern India's most underprivileged and vulnerable populations, 4S has partnered with the government and several non-governmental organisations, including corporations.

The vision is to create a socially, environmentally and economically sustainable society with improved lives for rural poor and vulnerable communities, especially women, in unreached areas. The mission is to become an institution of excellence ensuring the well-being of excluded communities in deprived regions.

4S India has grown from 14 to 48 professionals, with support from over 150 volunteers, and has exceeded targets across 17 projects impacting over 200,000 rural households.
