SARWC-Service Agency for Rural Women and Children is a non-profit making, non-political, Secular Organization established to address the social, econ Read moreomical, educational, and environmental problems of the needy community and society. SARWC is a forum of dedicated and committed people who had reserved their service for the cause of poor, underprivileged, and neglected people of the society, very particularly with the people suffering from mental retardation, hearing impaired, orthopedically handicapped, visual impaired and mental illness to restore their basic survival rights for food, shelter, health, and employment or entrepreneurship with economic independence and social dignity. We have a clear vision and action plan of making every individual self-sustained with basic education, life leading skill, basic and mental health with social dignity, and economic independence. To realize our vision and mission, we have been implementing several social, economical, educational, employment generation, and environmental development activities since our inception. We are presently working in the fields of empowerment of mentally and physically challenged persons(persons with all type of disabilities), Health and Hygiene, Education, Special Education, Natural Resource Management, Decentralization of Power-Panchayath Raj, Child Labour Eradication, Legal Literacy, Income Generation Activities, Community Organization, and Environmental Protection Activities in Koalr, Chikkaballapur, and Bangalore rural districts. We have been running a special residential school for 75 mentally challenged children with food, accommodation, Health, Education, Activities of daily living skills, sports, recreation, pre-vocational and vocational training in Mulbagal, and community-based rehabilitation project for 462 disabled persons in Bangarapet taluk of Kolar district, Karnataka

Residential School for Mentally Challenged Children
A residential school for mentally challenged children offers a holistic approach to their development, providing essential services such as food, shelter, and healthcare, complemented by a range of activities. These include early intervention to identify and nourish the child's abilities, academic skill-building covering reading, writing, and numerical concepts, therapeutic training encompassing physiotherapy, speech therapy, and behavioral therapy, as well as efforts towards social integration through communication skills and leisure activities. Additionally, pre-vocational and vocational training programs are implemented to enhance hand-eye coordination, time management, and job readiness, ultimately aiming to facilitate the children's transition into independent living and employment.

Rehabilitation Center for Mentally Ill
SARWC has launched a program aimed at rehabilitating mentally ill roadside destitutes, providing them with food, shelter, treatment, counseling, vocational skills training, and facilitating their reintegration with their families. Currently, there are 22 individuals in this category residing on our campus.
