Akshara Foundation of Arts and Learning (AFAL), founded in 2007, as a Mumbai-based not-for-profit public trust that works across several areas, all fo Read morecused on integrating the arts into education. Among its many projects, is a not-for-profit ICSE-affiliated school that promotes affordable education and brings to the forefront the importance of the arts in everyday curriculum. Akshara High School is an inclusive not-for-profit school in the northern suburbs of Mumbai. Founded in 2006, it is a neighbourhood school for the children of the area that come from under-serviced and underprivilege backgrounds. Akshara receives no grants or funding from government agencies. Currently, all funds are being raised through fees and donations from various organisations, friends and well-wishers. We are determined to provide subsidised education that can cater to all sections of society and to achieve this we seek funding from institutions in the form of grants and collaborations.

  • Akshara High School

    English-medium ICSE school Akshara is a coeducational, nonprofit institution. This inclusive school serves students with a range of skills and backgrounds.

    Since its founding, the school has concentrated on offering affordable tuition plans that cover everything, including cutting-edge labs, sports instruction, and artistic programs. The foundation has organized some multidisciplinary projects with this goal in mind, improving teaching-learning approaches with the distinct intention of providing every child with an equal chance at success.

  • AFAL + Agastya Science Centre

    The Agastya International Foundation is a nonprofit education trust that manages one of the biggest mobile science education programs in the world for teachers and kids from low-income families.
    Together, AFAL and Agastya International Foundation are bringing to Mumbai the first-ever Science Center, which will teach Physics, Chemistry, and Biology to students in Classes 5 through 9, through interactive, model-based lessons. In addition to training teachers, the program hosts scientific festivals and Young Instructors (YI).

  • Centre for Arts

    The Center for Arts at AFAL offers a place where kids and adults may gather and communicate via art while maintaining an emphasis on social growth, integration, tolerance, and humanitarian concerns.
    The centre also serves as a performance space, exhibition area, and reference library in addition to hosting activities with partners from all around Mumbai.
