Since

The Rural Welfare Institute (Gramya Kalyan Samstha), locally known as RWI, was established on May 12, 1979, in the remote village of Hansapara in the Read moreNimapara block of Puri district. Located 10 km away from the Nimapada block, 60 km from the Puri District headquarters, and 50 km from Bhubaneswar, RWI relies on community involvement before implementing any programs. RWI adopts a comprehensive approach that includes studies, training, and development at various levels to meet the needs and objectives of its programs. It actively engages local volunteers in issue-based grassroots programmes, emphasizing conceptual clarity and maintaining transparency through people's organizations and Community Based Organizations. To ensure effective information transfer, RWI employs a high-level Management Information System (MIS), facilitating the quick dissemination of information, knowledge, and skills between the organization, grassroots levels, and other government and non-government institutions. This approach helps RWI come closer to beneficiaries, identify their problems, and build their capacity to find suitable solutions. Since its inception, RWI has been involved in diverse activities, spanning health camps, sanitation projects, disaster mitigation efforts, livelihood restoration programs, and initiatives promoting women's empowerment and education. These activities have been made possible through the support of various donor agencies, including CDMO Puri, CAPART, CEBEMO Netherlands, Oxfam, Unicef, NABARD, Cord Aid Netherlands, diakonia, XIMB, Concern World Wide, Wateraid, SIRD Govt. of Odisha, Dy Director Agriculture, Hivos Bangalore-OPDSC, NYK Puri, CWS Hyderabad, Lepra Society BBSR, National University of Education and Public Administration New Delhi, Emory University USA, Centurion University Bhubaneswar, Aide et Action, Smile Foundation, Worise Foundation, APPI, SOCH, and National Agro Foundation Chennai. Objectives • Organize and raise awareness within the community to help them access their rights and entitlements. • Offer opportunities for unemployed youth to undergo multi-dimensional capacity building. • Address various social issues and establish connections with government, non-governmental departments, financial institutions, etc. • Handle emergencies through community-based organizations in vulnerable areas.
