Pink Angels - Women Empowerment Programme
The Rotary Club of Deonar runs the Pink Angels initiative, aiming to empower underprivileged women by training them to become auto-rickshaw drivers. The program includes three months of comprehensive training in auto-rickshaw driving, traffic rules, maintenance, and soft skills like nutrition and self-defence. After obtaining their commercial vehicle license, the women are assisted in securing auto loans to purchase their auto-rickshaws. This initiative not only provides them with a sustainable livelihood but also aligns with the government's Pink Auto Scheme, promoting women's participation in the expanding auto-rickshaw industry. With an average daily income of Rs 800-1000, the program offers financial independence and flexibility. The club plans to initially train 40 women with the potential for scalability based on community impact and funding availability, with a project budget of Rs 10,40,000 for 40 beneficiaries.
