Over 500 children reside in Ashalayam’s twenty three shelter homes and benefit from educational, vocational, and recreational opportunities. Through its street presence and various programmes in the slums and railway stations, Ashalayam also provides assistance to thousands of street children every year. Don Bosco Ashalayam, an NGO with over 35 years of experience, provides a comprehensive range of high-quality care services to children without parental care or those at risk of losing it. Beyond mere childcare, the organization ensures holistic child development. Through its Mission Education initiative, it has directly empowered over 155,000 children through education. VISION To create a child-friendly society that acknowledges and provides facilities for the optimal development of all its children, enabling them to become socially responsible citizens. MISSION Educate, Empower, and Promote children's basic rights, including survival, protection, participation, and development.

The vision of Don Bosco Ashalayam is to build a child-friendly society that offers facilities for all children's optimum development, while its mission is to educate, empower, and promote children's basic rights of survival, protection, participation, and development.

Residential facilities
Ashalayam serves as a residential care centre for children in need, aiming to offer a secure and nurturing environment for their growth and development. Presently, it has 312 children residing in 18 hostels, along with 766 children receiving care through street and slum schools.

Education
Ashalayam offers educational opportunities for underprivileged youth. The curriculum spans from primary to graduation levels, encompassing academic subjects and vocational training, supported by computer lab facilities. The objective of the education program is to empower children with the skills and knowledge essential for successful and fulfilling lives.

Ashalayam is dedicated to enhancing healthcare accessibility for underprivileged children. The organization tackles healthcare challenges through innovative solutions at the individual, community, and systemic levels. Additionally, Ashalayam promotes healthy lifestyles by integrating sports and games into their curriculum, fostering teamwork and self-confidence among children.

Training and placements
Ashalayam provides career counselling and assistance with job placements to support students in securing employment. From 2018 to 2022, the organization has successfully placed more than 100 young adults in various industries. Additionally, Ashalayam offers vocational training in diverse fields, allowing students to choose and enhance their skills.
