NFW was started in Coimbatore in October 2014 by Mr. Padmanabhan. It expanded to Chennai City in February 2018. Mr. Arun Kumar leads the Chennai Chapt Read moreer. NFW is a registered organisation, and donations to it are tax-exempt under 80G of the Income Tax Act. It mainly collects good quality leftover food from events, restaurants, and more. The food is checked for quality before being given to people at nearby "Hunger Spots," identified by volunteers based on need and logistics. NFW collaborates with the Food Safety Standards of India and the Food Safety Department in Tamil Nadu. The Government supported NFW with four Maruti food delivery vans and a workspace. Additionally, it has one sponsored Tata Ace vehicle. NFW serves all 15 zones of Greater Chennai and nearby areas.
