The Sam and Jane Foundation was established in 2016 with the goal of improving the lives of underprivileged and marginalized individuals, particularly Read more children, the disabled, women, and socially deprived communities. The foundation focuses on implementing timely interventions such as providing essential educational resources to students, offering motivation and training to help them compete with their counterparts in corporate schools. Additionally, the foundation aims to provide shelter and support for the elderly to lead a peaceful life in their later stages. Conducting awareness campaigns in rural communities on fundamental aspects of life is also a significant activity of the foundation. Currently, the Sam and Jane Foundation concentrates on activities related to Education, Health, Agriculture, and Environment in Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh. There are plans to expand its scope of activities to other sectors and operational areas in different districts and states based on the financial support received. The foundation envisions a self-sufficient society in all fundamental aspects and employs a new approach by organizing needy individuals into Community Based Organizations. Through various participatory methodologies, these organizations are strengthened to acquire the resources necessary for their development. The foundation's primary focus is on providing timely opportunities and services in areas such as natural resources, agriculture, human resources, rural infrastructure, employment, skill development, rural income sources, livelihood, environment conservation, rights, forests & biodiversity protection, animal welfare, and ecological balance, all contributing to the common cause of sustainable development in their working areas and for rural people. Goals • Establishing old age homes and homes for street children to support the most deserving communities in India. • Ensuring quality education for the underprivileged by providing educational supplies and conducting awareness programs in government schools. • Working towards the development of health and hygiene in rural areas, including initiatives for clean drinking water, a clean and green environment, sanitation, drainage, and sewage. • Initiating agricultural development with a focus on organic farming and eco-friendly practices. • Providing merit scholarships, school bags, notebooks, school fees, and other essential educational materials to economically disadvantaged students. • Implementing Hamlet Adoption Programs to foster community development. • Conducting rural skills upgrading and income generation programs, especially targeting youth and women. • Protecting natural resources and promoting organic/sustainable agriculture and livelihood sources. • Offering alternative energy sources to rural communities for their basic needs. • Providing microfinance support to Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Microfinance and Credit Trusts (MACTs) for enterprises and livelihood/income sources. • Focusing on tribal development through an integrated approach, particularly for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PTGs) and Scheduled Castes (SCs). • Engaging in natural calamities/disaster management, providing relief, and participating in rehabilitation efforts. • Undertaking rural infrastructural development and construction activities. • Implementing drinking water provisions and sanitation initiatives in rural villages and tribal hamlets, including the establishment of Reverse Osmosis (RO) system plants. Skill development
SJF inaugurated a new Skill Development Centre in Tenali, with the presence of Dr. Nidhi Meena, an IAS Officer, who officiated the launch.
The primary goal of this initiative is to provide certificate-based training to women in various domains such as tailoring, embroidery, handicraft, jute bag making, pickle making, and mushroom cultivation. The aim is to empower women, making them financially independent and elevating their socio-economic status while contributing to the broader cause of women empowerment. -
Environment
Sam and Jane Foundation has actively engaged in sustainable environmental practices through the following initiatives:
1. Planting saplings in selected schools and providing tree guards to ensure their growth.
2. Planting a minimum of five saplings during all major events organized by the foundation.
3. Distributing printed material to raise awareness about the importance of a sustainable environment.
4. Undertaking social forestry initiatives, including afforestation along avenues, abandoned lands, revenue hillocks, waste lands, road sides, etc.
5. Protecting natural water bodies, marshlands, ponds, sanctuaries, and other ecological habitats.
6. Implementing eco-restoration efforts through agro-forestry developments and pasture development, contributing to the supply of fodder for livestock.
7. Organizing elocution, writing, essay competitions, and distributing prizes to encourage environmental awareness and participation. -
Healthcare
Sam and Jane Foundation is actively involved in healthcare initiatives for rural communities, undertaking the following activities:
1. Distributing mosquito nets and blankets to residents near stagnant water bodies.
2. Conducting healthcare camps for both rural and urban slum dwellers.
3. Organizing awareness camps on health and hygiene in selected schools.
4. Providing support and treatment for individuals living with diseases such as HIV and leprosy.
5. Promoting education and awareness about contagious diseases.
6. Offering financial assistance for cataract surgeries.
7. Advocating preventive measures, techniques, and personal hygiene.
8. Addressing healthcare needs for adolescent girls, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. -
Street children welfare
StateThe street children welfare program endeavours to offer food, shelter, clothing, medical facilities, and vocational training until the individual transforms into a self-sufficient and responsible citizen.

Village adoption
StateCurrently, SJF has undertaken the development of Angalakuthuru village in Tenali Revenue Division. The focus is on comprehensive improvements, including education, infrastructure (such as roads and community halls, as well as renovation of existing structures), fostering social harmony and security, enhancing economic opportunities and livelihoods, promoting moral values, improving health conditions, providing clean drinking water through RO system plants, constructing and protecting water storage facilities, developing sewage mechanisms, balancing the village ecosystem, fostering fodder development, ensuring livestock health, facilitating marketing and crop banks, promoting Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), conducting skill development training, and establishing enterprises. These efforts involve collaboration and coordination among various stakeholders, including line departments, NGOs, philanthropists, companies, and well-wishers.

Education
Sam and Jane Foundation is actively involved in educational initiatives, focusing on various activities:
1. Selection of specific Government Schools in Andhra Pradesh, where SJF commits to six months of dedicated efforts to ensure quality education. Special attention is given to socially and financially disadvantaged children, with a particular emphasis on girls.
2. Distribution of educational stationery items, including Exam Pads, Writing Pens, Notebooks, Textbooks, and Geometry boxes, to students in the identified Government Schools.
3. Organizing Educational Awareness Creation programs by engaging cultural and entertainment teams, aiming to emphasize the importance of education and its inherent value.
4. Providing financial assistance for higher education, scholarships, and necessary support.
5. Offering scholarships to the first and second-ranking students in classes V to X.
6. Employing English teaching professionals to conduct training sessions in all selected government schools.
