  • Since

    2008

HEAL (Help Eradicate Abuse through Learning) has been working against child sexual abuse since 2008. HEAL was launched by The Foundation in 2008 in or Read moreder to combat the social and self-discrimination that survivors of child sexual abuse face. Since 2017, HEAL has operated as an independent NGO, with a mission to build the capacity of adults to identify, prevent and respond to child sexual abuse, as well as extend accessible, trauma-informed psychotherapeutic services to survivors of child sexual abuse. Our aim is to prevent sexual abuse of children through the tool of education.  We envision a community that upholds, understands and values the rights of its children by protecting them from sexual abuse and enables the healing of survivors through a gentle, sensitive and long-term companionship.

Action

HEAL works to prevent child sexual abuse through education, awareness programs, and partnerships with schools and communities.

Demographies Served

Impact

HEAL establishes child sexual abuse as an issue that can no longer be ignored within homes, schools, communities, and policies.

Vision & Mission

HEAL's vision is a community that protects children from sexual abuse. Its mission is to prevent sexual abuse of children through education and enable all involved to understand, recognize, prevent and respond to child sexual abuse.

Programs

  • Awareness workshops in educational institutions

    District

Raising awareness is the initial step in preventing child sexual abuse, and HEAL fulfills this objective by organizing awareness workshops under its 'Helping to Heal' program across educational institutions. Specifically targeting middle and low-income schools in Maharashtra, this program aims to broaden access to CSA awareness workshops. Through 'Helping to Heal,' HEAL endeavors to extend its reach to diverse communities and educational establishments throughout Maharashtra.

The program is designed to establish a secure environment for children, equip them with self-protection skills, and educate adults on fostering a safe atmosphere for children's well-being. Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, HEAL conducts online training sessions for children, adults, parents, teachers, and non-teaching staff.

  • Training of Trainers

    District

We meticulously train a select group of professionals to become certified trainers in conducting CSA awareness workshops. Under close supervision by HEAL, these trainers deliver workshops for various adult groups. Upon demonstrating exceptional facilitation skills, trainers receive certification and are empowered to independently conduct awareness sessions. Since 2016, HEAL has annually conducted training programs for trainers, contributing to the growth of numerous CSA advocates.

HEAL offers training sessions for individuals as well as organizations seeking to equip their employees with CSA awareness skills.

Milestones & Track Record

HEAL grew from a project into an independent NGO in 2017, though remaining under the ideological umbrella of The Foundation.
