Founded in response to the nationwide lockdown in March 2020 by Mr. Karnatakapu Satish, the organization began with a small group on WhatsApp, gradually expanding as like-minded NGOs joined forces under its banner. Co-founder Mr. Chandan Achary manages the organisation's digital projects, utilizing Mr. Satish's IT background to establish a virtual presence. The organisation operates with a strong emphasis on teamwork, forming dedicated teams for tasks such as food preparation, ground volunteering, social media management, helpline attendance, and doctor consultations. In the past year, the Vizag Volunteers Association has brought smiles to over 15,000 individuals through various activities. The vision is to unite society in supporting essential causes for the well-being of Vizag, while the mission involves serving the community through diverse means and creating digital platforms to streamline processes. The organisation's goal is to build a resilient network of volunteers committed to righteous causes in Vizag's best interest.

Digi Blood Programme
It operates the Digi Blood Programme, leveraging technology and human efforts to advocate for blood donation in Visakhapatnam. It partners with various non-profit organisations and blood banks to ensure reliable and voluntary donation requests are fulfilled. The service aids patients requiring transfusions, including pregnant women, accident victims, cancer patients, and others with critical illnesses. Focusing on awareness, it encourages existing donors, recruits new ones, and educates the public about the significance of blood donation, catering to organisations' needs for blood and platelet donations.

Beach Cleanup Drive Programme
It engages volunteers in a Beach Cleanup Programme aimed at enhancing Vizag's coastline. Emphasizing safety, tourism, cleanliness, and awareness, it ensures a safe beach environment, removing hazards like deceased animals and non-degradable litter, and providing protective gear during clean-ups. With a mission to cleanse the 32 KM Vizag coastline, its goal involves fostering community responsibility for beach maintenance, aiming for ecosystem sustainability. Conducting 400 cleanups at Kalam View Point in two years, it has transformed the area into a popular tourist destination, showcasing its commitment to the cause.

Vanajangi Hills Clean Up Drive Programme
The Vizag Volunteers Association initiated the Hill Cleanup Drive at Vanajangi, following their successful cloth distribution in Madugulla mandala. Camping overnight on December 26, 2021, the team embarked on a trek up the hill the next morning to address the growing issue of garbage accumulation, raise awareness, and assess the environmental damage. With a 30-member team, it reached the hilltop at 7 AM, finding it polluted with plastic waste and burnt wood ash. Engaging with tourists present, volunteers rallied support for the cleanup drive, commencing at 7:30 AM and concluding at 9:30 AM, collecting 30 bags of waste. Its objective was to highlight the escalating ecological threat posed by heavy tourist footfall in the sensitive area, emphasizing the need for conservation efforts.

Food Distribution Drive
During the initial phase of the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown, the Vizag Volunteers Association responded to the crisis by addressing the food scarcity faced by stranded individuals and animals in Visakhapatnam. Recognizing the plight of the homeless, the team identified key locations and collaborated with several organisations such as JCI Vizag Smart, TOSS NGO, Mother India Charitable Trust, GK Foundation, We the People, Rotary Club, Vizag, RSSB Trust, and other unnamed groups to meet the city's needs. Prioritizing hygiene, the organisation maintained stringent food preparation standards to prevent virus transmission while cooking. Over 30 days, it distributed more than 7000 food packets across various city spots, ensuring sustenance for the vulnerable when venturing out was daunting during the pandemic.

Railway Station Volunteering Programme
The Vizag Volunteers Association responded to a request from the Youth Services Department, deploying 40 volunteers to the Visakhapatnam Railway station during the country's phase of easing COVID-19 restrictions. Assigned the task of screening passengers on the Godavari Express, volunteers began duty at 5 AM, collecting passenger details and conducting random swab tests, referring symptomatic passengers for testing. Emphasizing safety, it provided masks, face shields, sanitizers, and gloves to all involved parties. Adhering to strict discipline and safety measures, its efforts ensured the successful completion of this challenging task, earning appreciation for its diligence.
