Action
ACTREC conducts multi-pronged investigations into cancer biology, focusing on basic and translational research, advanced modes of cancer therapy, and assessing the cancer burden in India through its three centers: CRI, CRC, and CCE.
Impact
ACTREC is making considerable headway into clinical research while focusing on advanced modes of cancer therapy, with initial focus on pediatric cancers, brain tumors, head and neck cancer, cervical cancer, breast cancer, cancer genetics, and technology evaluation.

Access to Affordable cancer Care for One and All
StateConducts infrastructure and skill gap analyses at District hospitals, training-the-trainer programs, and state-level awareness workshops.

Academic Program
StateThe Center's Academic Research Program focuses on cancer biology while covering a wide range of life sciences topics. Principal Investigators use in vitro cell lines and animal model systems to decipher the molecular pathways underlying numerous cancer presentations.
One of the centre's main missions is education and training, and scientists from the centre educate and train students at the University of Mumbai's numerous departments and degree programs, as well as at DY Patil University and other nearby universities. The centre's senior scientists serve on national and international boards for various research groups.
Milestones & Track Record
Key milestones include the inauguration of the National Hadron Beam Therapy, development of a bioinformatics tool to analyze cancer-specific gene mutations in the Indian population, and the establishment of India's first CAR T-cell Therapy Centre with cGMP facility.
