The terms "Internet of Things" and "Incubator" are combined to form the term "thingQbator." thingQbator began as an internal incubator for IoT concept Read mores originating from the engineering community at Cisco. The concept was to establish maker spaces where Internet of Things aficionados could learn more about digital technologies in a hands-on setting and develop their ideas into functional prototypes, all under the guiding principle that none of us is smarter than the rest of us. Cisco developed the idea of "thingQbator for Universities," a virtual maker space and program designed to assist colleges and academic institutions in accelerating innovation around IoT and digital technologies on campus to launch startups.
