Gamru Village, located near McLeodganj and lower Dharamshala, hosts a school founded to meet the educational needs of the local community. The school Read moreprovides free, high-quality education to 154 disadvantaged Indian children who face significant challenges in accessing learning opportunities. The school's mission involves offering full scholarships that cover fees, meals, uniforms, books, and stationery. It teaches the Indian curriculum in a creative way and includes extracurricular activities like Environmental Conservation, Health Education, Arts and Crafts, Agriculture, Music, Physical Education, and Vocational Skills. The school places special importance on encouraging female participation and promoting involvement in areas such as vocational training and leadership development. Additionally, a daycare centre helps young children with early learning, allowing older students to concentrate on their studies without childcare duties. A daily lunch programme ensures students receive nutritious meals, supporting both their health and ability to focus on learning.

  • Student Activities

    Students at Gamru Village School have transformed an area in front of the school into a vegetable garden, using the produce for school lunches. They also created a vibrant hanging garden wall using repurposed plastic bottles. On June 5th, students participated in an Environment Day competition with 13 schools. In August, students planted ten trees around the school and regularly engaged in village cleanup projects to reduce their carbon footprint and support their community.

  • Medical Camp

    Mr. Dava Phunki, director of Delek Hospital, facilitated tuberculosis screenings for all students and teachers. Additionally, Delek Hospital doctors conducted a medical bootcamp, instructing students on recognizing the signs of TB and methods for preventing this serious disease.
