The Bombay Scottish School originated as the Scottish Female Orphanage in Byculla, established to support the daughters of Presbyterian soldiers and I Read morendian Navy sailors. Later, an orphanage for the sons of Presbyterians was founded, and both were merged in 1859 to form the Bombay Presbyterian Male and Female Orphanage. In 1886, it was reorganised as the Bombay Scottish Orphanage Society. With a history spanning over 169 years, the school has consistently provided excellent education, equipping students to face future challenges. It offers special support for those with learning difficulties. With 3,300 students, the school is organised into four houses—Yellow, Green, Red, and Blue—named after Scottish missionaries and queens. A variety of clubs and activities, including sports, debates, and creative writing, are available. Modern facilities, such as interactive boards and advanced laboratories, enhance learning. The Advanced Placement Programme enables students to earn international university credits. Many of its alumni have excelled in different fields, making notable contributions to society. The school is celebrated for blending tradition with modern education.
