To serve as the Indian Country Network of the Global Compact, New York, UN Global Compact Network India (UN GCNI), which was established in November 2 Read more000, was registered as a non-profit society in 2003. It was founded with complete legal status, making it the first Country Network in history. As a platform for businesses, civil organisations, the public sector, and the private sector at the national level, it also helps to align the responsible practices of stakeholders with the UNGC's Ten Universally Accepted Principles in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment, and anti-corruption. It also supports the Sustainable Development Goals and other important sister initiatives of the UN and its systems. With more than 500 prominent business and non-business participants throughout India, it has also grown to become the biggest corporate sustainability initiative in both India and the world. By joining the Country Network in India, they have demonstrated their dedication to the Global Compact Principles. One of the most important venues for promoting the 10 widely accepted principles in the Indian business environment is the UN Global Compact Network India. These values are essential for encouraging ethical and sustainable corporate citizenship and are in line with post-2015 development agendas and more general global goals like the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

Human rights, fair labour standards, living circumstances, health and safety, empowerment, community involvement, and young skill development are the fundamental tenets of social sustainability.
Human rights are the cornerstone of the first six UN Global Compact principles, which centre on the social aspect of corporate sustainability. Specific groups are the focus of our social sustainability work: children's rights, decent work, gender equality, and women's empowerment.
Milestones & Track Record
Established in 2003 as the first Local Network with legal recognition, grown to over 500 members, and launched initiatives like India CEO Forum on Human Rights, Women Empowerment Principles, and National Conventions.
