ICARE, a unit of Ishwar Charitable Trust, was founded in 1993 to provide comprehensive eye care to underprivileged communities, with a focus on rural Read moreoutreach. With over 240,000 successful surgeries and 15,000+ free surgeries annually, ICARE operates through a tertiary center in Noida and additional secondary centers in Greater Noida and Khurja. The organization’s highly skilled medical staff, including 25 doctors, ensure top-notch care. Committed to addressing challenges in awareness, affordability, and infrastructure, ICARE remains dedicated to making quality eye care accessible to all.

Programs

  • Rural Outreach Programme

In 1993, ICARE launched a unique Rural Outreach Program through fixed Rural Peripheral Centres (RPCs) to deliver modern eye care directly to underserved communities in Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi's urban slums. Operating on a hub-and-spoke model, the program screens and identifies patients needing surgery at RPCs, transports them to base hospitals in Noida and Greater Noida, and provides free, high-quality diagnostic, surgical, and post-operative care.

  • Awareness Generation

An ambulance from ICARE Eye Hospital departs early each morning to the designated campsite, staffed with ophthalmologists and paramedical personnel. Patient registration records details such as name, age, and address, and identity cards are issued for future follow-ups. Vision screenings are conducted by technicians, with further evaluations by optometrists for those with subnormal vision. Refraction tests are performed, and glasses are prescribed for best-corrected visual acuity.

Additionally, awareness sessions are held to educate rural communities on common causes of blindness and preventive measures.
