Breakfast in School
StateYMWS, in collaboration with the S.D. Ahuja Foundation operates the Breakfast-in-School program at Bhagawatipur and Joynagar Khelaghar schools (since 2015) and the Evening Snack Program at Diksha (since 2017). These initiatives aim to enhance children's nutrition while boosting enrolment and retention rates.
The program provides a healthy and safe power breakfast, offering each child a glass of milk and an egg or a banana on alternate days, five days a week. This meets 50% of the daily requirements for essential nutrients like vitamins A and D, calcium, iron, and folic acid.
School meals for vulnerable children remain a priority, recognized by the Public Health Foundation of India as a key measure to combat hunger. YMWS is committed to expanding the Breakfast-in-School program to support more needy children.
