SAATHII is a national non-profit organisation in India that works to ensure healthcare, justice, and social protection for marginalised communities. I Read moret focuses on disadvantaged women and children, people affected by HIV/AIDS and TB, and those facing discrimination based on gender identity or sexuality. Active across all 36 states and union territories, SAATHII partners with government agencies, over 26,000 private health facilities, and 200+ civil society organisations. Its vision is a society where everyone, regardless of HIV status, gender, or sexuality, has equal access to rights, healthcare, and social services. SAATHII’s initiatives include improving access to inclusive healthcare, legal aid, education, and social services through training, information sharing, research, and advocacy. It also supports multi-sector collaborations, promotes evidence-based policies, and aids in implementing laws such as the HIV/AIDS Act and rulings on transgender rights and LGBTIQ+ decriminalisation.

SAATHII has screened 2,36,039 children for TB, providing comprehensive services to 1,380 presumptive and 130 confirmed cases; enhanced RMNCH+A and TB services in 400 tea garden hospitals in Assam; supported 70,638 marginalised individuals, including PLHIV, MSM, transgender persons, sex workers, and PWIDs, with social-legal protection services; delivered HIV testing and counselling to 25 million pregnant women, with 21,639+ receiving prevention of parent-to-child transmission services; reached 4 million individuals with SRHR services; trained 137 MO-ARTC and 132 LT-SAICTC master trainers and 1,227 LT-SAICTC cadres nationwide; assisted 1,00,000 LGBTI individuals with social, legal, health, and educational support; and counselled and tested 4,12,924 inmates, linking 1,412 HIV-positive cases to treatment.

Project Subhiksha
Project Subhiksha, funded by the Elton John AIDS Foundation, was launched in October 2017 to deliver comprehensive HIV services in 13 states and union territories, covering 827 prisons and 346 other closed settings. Implemented in collaboration with national and state AIDS control organizations, the project addresses the heightened HIV risk among inmates due to unsafe practices and limited medical facilities. It focuses on HIV testing, antiretroviral treatment, and care continuum services for inmates and their families.

Project Svetana
Project Svetana, supported by the Global Fund for AIDS, TB, and Malaria (GFATM), operated across 361 districts in 22 states and union territories from January 2018 to March 2021, engaging public and private health facilities. Implemented by SAATHII in collaboration with three partners—SVYM, NCPI+, and GSNP+—the project targeted 1.4 crore pregnant women, including 14,774 estimated HIV-positive cases. Its focus was on HIV testing, antiretroviral treatment, spouse testing, and early infant diagnosis to ensure maternal and child health.
