The Northeast Centre for Equity Action on Integrated Development (NEAID) is a grassroots, not-for-profit organization committed to fostering sustainab Read morele development in tribal and rural communities across Northeastern India. Led by individuals native to the region, NEAID takes an apolitical stance and focuses its efforts on three key areas: Quality Education, Health, and their critical determinants. The organization’s initiatives are thoughtfully designed to align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring that its programs enhance and complement existing public systems for greater impact. NEAID operates with the conviction that Good Health and Quality Education are transformative forces capable of lifting families out of poverty and driving societal change. The organization recognizes the profound interconnection between education and health, viewing both as essential elements of human capital that contribute to individual empowerment and national economic productivity. By equipping communities with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to thrive, NEAID seeks to create ripple effects that extend beyond individual households to the broader society.

The STEM Program
The STEM for Girls Program aims to address educational and socio-economic disparities in the marginalized districts of Baksa and Darrang, Assam. Recognizing the urgent need for a skilled STEM workforce to meet India’s growing economic demands, the program focuses on reducing gender gaps in education and workforce representation. By combating high dropout rates, systemic barriers, and health challenges, the initiative empowers girls and mothers to make informed decisions, fostering leadership and sustainable community development. Whole School Transformation program
The Whole School Transformation program addresses the alarming decline in foundational literacy, as highlighted by the ASER Report 2022. Focused on providing quality education to children in remote areas of Northeast India, the initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education for All) and the priorities outlined in NEP 2020. By fostering inclusive and impactful learning environments, the program aims to equip every child with essential reading skills and empower them for sustainable development. This vision seeks to reverse declining literacy trends and create lasting educational equity.
