Jaipur Foot

The Jaipur Foot, developed in 1968 by a team of orthopaedic surgeons and craftsmen at S.M.S. Medical College Hospital in Jaipur, is a distinctive prosthetic limb technology. It features a non-articulated design that allows for movement in all three planes: dorsiflexion, inversion/eversion, and transverse rotation. This unique design enables amputees to perform activities such as walking, running, trekking, swimming, squatting, sitting cross-legged, and navigating uneven terrain. The Jaipur Foot is versatile, suitable for use with or without shoes, and is recognized for its affordability and functionality.

BMVSS operates a well-equipped physiotherapy centre at its Jaipur headquarters, staffed by highly trained professionals. The centre utilizes state-of-the-art equipment to enhance strength, and mobility, and reduce spasm and swelling.
