  • Desh Bandhu Jan Utkarsh Pariyojna

    Description

    This program was rolled out in selected villages of Bharatpur and Alwar districts in Rajasthan, and Pune and Dhule districts in Maharashtra.
    The program intends to reduce dependency on rain-fed agriculture while ensuring economic empowerment through diversified and sustainable livelihoods.

    Core Initiatives:

    * Irrigation Facilities: Developed based on feasibility to boost agricultural productivity.
    * Vegetable Cultivation: Promoted among households with irrigation access to improve dietary diversity and increase household income.
    * Livestock Development: Focused on goat rearing and poultry farming to provide sustainable income opportunities for landless and artisan households.
    * Skill and Enterprise Development: Conducted skill enhancement programs and offered job placement support for establishing small-scale farm and non-farm enterprises.

    Achievements:

    * Sustainable Livelihoods: Supported over 850 households in transitioning away from rain-fed agriculture by developing alternative income sources.
    * Water Management: Created a total water storage capacity of 2,28,141 cubic meters through 53 water harvesting structures, including check dams and ponds.
    * Skill Training: Trained 689 young individuals in General Duty Assistant and Tailoring to enhance employability.

    Initiated in the Dhule and Nandurbar districts of Maharashtra in collaboration with the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI).
