The Lady Bamford Charitable Trust (LBCT) strives to improve the well-being of disadvantaged communities across India. Working alongside the government Read more and local stakeholders, it implements various initiatives to enhance education in government schools and equip women and young individuals with employable skills. The Trust also contributes to infrastructure development, including roads, sanitation facilities, and water supply systems, while ensuring access to healthcare services. Originally established to support a single school in Ballabgarh, Haryana, LBCT has expanded its efforts over two decades, addressing broader community challenges through three key focus areas: Education, Skill Development, and Community Engagement. Its initiatives include improving learning outcomes, empowering women through Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and fostering economic self-sufficiency through vocational training. Furthermore, it conducts awareness campaigns on health, nutrition, and WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) to promote overall community welfare.

Educational Programmes
LBCT strives to prevent student dropouts by ensuring continued education and guiding them toward skilled careers through digital learning, remedial support, teacher training, scholarships, and infrastructure development. The Trust promotes Child-Friendly Schools (CFS), fostering safe, protective, and inclusive learning environments based on UNICEF guidelines, improving sanitation, clean water access, and classroom safety. Through Eklavya Plus, financial assistance and coaching help meritorious students from disadvantaged backgrounds pursue higher education. Project Saksham enhances academic performance by providing subject-specific support to students in community-owned spaces.

Employable Skills Programmes
LBCT empowers women through skill development, enabling them to make informed decisions and contribute to their families and communities. Vocational Training Centres (VTCs) provide short-term courses, particularly in stitching, for rural women aged 18 to 40, offering NSDC certification and self-employment opportunities. The Trust also supports ARKE, a handicrafts brand run by rural women. ARKE fosters entrepreneurship in weaving, embroidery, and jewellery making, improving livelihoods and promoting economic independence.
