The Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP), initially founded by over 150 pediatricians, is focused on improving children's health and well-being. It now Read moreboasts more than 47,000 members across the country, organized into five zones, 30 state branches, two UTI branches (Chandigarh and Puducherry), 343 district/city branches, and one international branch. The Academy promotes pediatric subspecialties through 25 chapters and five groups. IAP actively holds CME programs, conferences, and awareness campaigns. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it hosted webinars, virtual sessions, and educational talks, benefiting pediatricians and communities. Its advocacy resulted in pediatrics being recognized as a distinct discipline. The government values IAP's expertise and involving it in child health programs. Through its official journals, Indian Pediatrics (Delhi) and Indian Journal of Practical Pediatrics (Chennai), IAP advances professional education, supports pediatricians, raises parent awareness, and offers consultancy services.
