Shashwat Trust is a non-profit organization committed to advancing the welfare of tribal communities and families affected by dam projects. Since its Read moreinception in 1999, the trust has concentrated on the Ambegaon, Khed, and Junnar blocks of the Pune district, Maharashtra. The organization prioritizes sustainable development, empowering displaced communities through livelihood creation, skill development for women and youth, and enhanced access to healthcare and education. Guided by the principle of 'Shashwat Vikas,' meaning sustainable grassroots progress, the trust emphasizes lasting change over immediate outcomes. Originating from an advocacy movement for dam-affected families, its initiatives now extend to 52 villages. With five major projects and several smaller programs, Shashwat Trust currently impacts approximately 3,500 families, fostering economic opportunities, strengthening community bonds, and enhancing resilience.

Programs
-
Livelihood Development Programme
This program focuses on introducing modern technologies and community-driven business models to enhance traditional livelihoods. Currently, three livelihood projects are underway. The fish-rearing initiative, spanning 19 villages, ensures systematic collection and direct payments to fishermen. Dairy farming helps prevent migration by linking milk producers with external dairies, offering training, and planning a processing unit for value-added products. Also, the Hirda collection remains a key economic activity, with structured trade and processing poised to improve local prosperity significantly.
-
Women Empowerment Programme
This programme empowers women through self-help groups (SHGs) based on trust and cooperation, fostering both economic and social independence. Skill-based training and access to financial support enable SHGs to gain stability through project-based opportunities. Participation in exhibitions and community initiatives enhances entrepreneurial skills, while training in mushroom cultivation, poultry farming, and food processing equips women to build sustainable livelihoods, ensuring long-term growth and self-sufficiency.
