    Description

    Grasim is committed to expanding access to quality healthcare for rural and underserved communities by supporting hospitals, primary healthcare centers, Anganwadis, and mother and childcare projects. Its broad-based healthcare initiatives focus on immunization, with a strong emphasis on polio eradication, malnutrition management, adolescent health, and specialized support for the visually impaired and differently-abled. Additionally, the company promotes preventive healthcare awareness and addresses non-communicable diseases. In collaboration with the Grasim Jan Seva Trust, it operates five hospitals catering to outpatient department (OPD) patients, prioritizing the healthcare needs of children, senior citizens, women, and marginalized communities.

    The Delivery Room at Halol Referral Hospital was renovated to enhance maternal and child healthcare outcomes. The Insulators CSR team led the initiative, equipping the facility with modern delivery beds and essential infrastructure to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for expectant mothers.

    In partnership with the Karnataka Marwari Youth Federation, Bengaluru, Grasim organized its 29th Free Artificial Limb Fitment Camp to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mr. Aditya Vikram Birla. During the reporting year, 205 artificial limbs and 20 prosthetic hands were provided to Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), empowering them with mobility and independence.

    With support from Grasim Medical Centre, 1,031 daily Rural Mobile General Health Checkup Camps were organized in remote CSR villages, providing essential medical care and free medicines to ensure effective treatment and healthcare access.

    In collaboration with local Primary Health Centres (PHCs), initiatives such as a Blood Pressure and Sugar Screening Camp, a Larva Survey for preventing water and vector-borne diseases, child immunization drives, the National Pulse Polio Drive, and health check-up camps were conducted to promote community well-being.

    OPD services were extended to the local community near the Aditya Birla Jan Seva Trust dispensary in Rishra, ensuring accessible healthcare for residents in the vicinity.

    In collaboration with the Rotary Club Kolkata Yuvis, a cervical and breast cancer screening camp was organized, providing essential healthcare services to women in the community.

These initiatives include the formation of Self-Help Groups to empower women, skill enhancement and vocational training, and partnerships with Industrial Training Institutes to develop employable skills. Additionally, the company focuses on agriculture development, farmer support, animal husbandry, soil and water conservation, watershed development, and agro-forestry, fostering long-term sustainability and economic growth in rural communities.

  • Empowering Women and Rural Youth

    Description

    Through Project Anya, Grasim’s CSR team procured waste fabric and provided it to women members, who transformed it into face masks of various designs and colors. Made from linen and natural fibers, these masks featured antimicrobial properties and were distributed free of cost within the community. Additionally, the initiative led to the establishment of ‘Lakshmi Mahila Samiti,’ empowering women by facilitating access to credit from formal financial institutions.

    In FY 2023-24, Grasim’s CSR teams established 14 women-led enterprises, empowering women to generate additional income through the production and sale of handmade items such as candles, agarbattis, handicrafts, papads, and pickles. To support these entrepreneurs, the CSR teams provided product training, infrastructure assistance, seed funding, and market linkages, enabling them to build sustainable livelihoods.

    Grasim actively promotes women's empowerment by establishing and supporting Self-Help Groups (SHGs). In FY 2023-24, 129 new SHGs were formed, bringing the total to 450. These groups receive ongoing support through capacity building, training, production assistance, and market linkages, enabling women to achieve financial independence and sustainable livelihoods.

  • Animal Husbandry

    Description

    In FY 2023-24, the Bharatiya Agro Industries Foundation (BAIF) and the Bharatiya Institute for Sustainable Livelihoods and Development (BISLD) worked towards improving the health and well-being of cattle and livestock, creating a positive impact on beneficiaries.

    Artificial Insemination (AI) was used to produce high-genetic potential animals, resulting in 606 cases and over 150 female calves, each valued at ₹25,000 by the second year. Doorstep AI services helped farmers improve breeds, enhancing livestock quality and benefiting families. Additionally, improved animal husbandry practices led to increased milk production and higher productivity.

    Grasim implemented proactive measures to safeguard animal health by administering 6,029 vaccinations, conducting 2,531 deworming procedures, and providing 92 mineral mixtures to prevent the spread of foot-and-mouth disease. Deworming treatments for small ruminants, including calves, sheep, and goats, contributed to the well-being of livestock and supported families. Additionally, Grasim organized three health camps, offering curative healthcare measures that further improved animal health and benefited the community.

    Grasim established a modern 14-acre gaushala in Takrawada Village, Nagda, Madhya Pradesh, to provide care for old, injured, and abandoned cattle while raising awareness about cruelty against cows. Designed to accommodate free-roaming cattle, the facility includes three cow sheds and has provided shelter to 856 cows, mobilized from nearby villages and Nagda town in coordination with the veterinary department and government authorities, following a structured SOP.

    Description

  • Sustainable Agriculture

    Description

    Grasim fosters agricultural employment by creating a sustainable value chain, boosting farmer incomes, and promoting FPOs. In FY 2023-24, efforts focused on Wadi development, strengthening village institutions, and supporting women agriculturists. Rural youth received training in cultivating, storing, and packaging high-value crops like oranges, mushrooms, and dragon fruit.

    In FY 2023-24, the Grasim Jana Seva Trust supported 47 marginalised women farmers in 10 villages of Ranebennur Taluk, Haveri District, by providing maize seeds for one acre of land each. Regular monitoring and feedback ensured timely harvesting, leading to increased yields. On average, farmers earned ₹58,000 per acre, with a profit of ₹38,000 from 20 quintals of produce, significantly boosting their incomes.

  • Water Conservation

    Description

    To provide safe drinking water at educational institutions, Grasim installed two 2,000-litre solar water heaters at Morarji Desai Residential School in Makanur village. Additionally, a high-capacity RO system was set up at the government school in Nutan, Halol, ensuring clean water access for students.

    Grasim installed water purification systems and coolers in five government schools, ensuring students have access to clean drinking water. Additionally, a water purification system and chiller were set up at the Government ESI Hospital in Serampore to provide safe drinking water for patients and visitors.

    Grasim installed a rooftop rainwater harvesting system at Shimla Government High School in Rishra Gram Panchayat, promoting groundwater conservation and encouraging students to embrace sustainable water management practices.

    In collaboration with NRI donors, Grasim has enhanced the water-holding capacity of the pond at Dayadra, providing lasting benefits to the local community.

  • Enhancing Awareness of Local Stakeholders

  • Enhancing Awareness of Local Stakeholders

    Description

    Under Project Vikas, Grasim supported slum communities through WASH and sanitation awareness sessions. Menstrual hygiene education was promoted by distributing sanitary pads to adolescent girls. Children received basic hygiene training, while 50 rag pickers were provided with safety shoes. Tarpaulin sheets were also distributed to protect dwellings from harsh weather conditions.
