Delhi-NCR faces a unique challenge which is high urban density coupled with a massive stray population.
We followed the internationally recognized Capture-Neuter-Vaccinate-Release (CNVR) protocol to ensure maximum efficiency and animal welfare.
1. State-of-the-Art Surgery: Our veterinary team performed 3,500 surgeries following strict Animal Birth Control (ABC) Rules, 2023, ensuring minimal recovery time and zero post-op complications.
2. Dual Protection: Every dog was simultaneously vaccinated, turning 3,500 "strays" into a vaccinated "biological barrier" that protects the community.
3. Identification: All dogs were marked with a permanent ear-notch and logged into our foundation's digital database.
The Impact in Numbers
3,500 Births Averted
Zero Rabies Cases
65% Reduction in Aggression
100% Territory Stability by releasing dogs back to their original spots, we prevented new, unsterilized dogs from moving in

Working in Delhi-NCR requires navigating heavy traffic, high-rise complexes, and varying community attitudes. Our success was built on three pillars:
Cold-Chain Integrity: In Delhi's extreme heat (reaching 45°C+), we maintained a strict cold-chain for our vaccines using specialized portable carriers, ensuring 100% potency.
The "Mark & Log" System: Every vaccinated dog was marked with a safe, temporary dye and logged into our foundation's database with a photo and location tag to prevent over-vaccination and track booster schedules.
Human-Canine Conflict Mitigation: Our teams didn't just vaccinate; they conducted "Spot-Awareness" talks with RWA members and local vendors, explaining that a vaccinated dog is a safe neighbor.
Stopped the Virus: Created a biological barrier where Rabies can no longer jump from dog to dog or dog to human.
Reduced Panic: Lowered the "bite-fear" in neighborhoods, leading to fewer incidents of animal cruelty.

Impact
The foundation operates two separate shelters in the New Delhi & Gurgaon, each serving a specific purpose to ensure the highest quality of care: * The Medical Unit: This is a specialized facility for dogs and cats that are sick, injured, or recovering from critical surgeries. It features an in-house medical room where veterinarians perform surgeries and procedures, reducing the trauma of transporting fragile animals to external clinics. * The Rehabilitation/Adoption Unit: Once an animal is healthy, it is moved to our "happy farm" where it can socialize, play, and interact with potential adopters. * Paralyzed Section: One of our most touching initiatives is a dedicated section for paralyzed and special-needs dogs. They provide customized wheel-carts, red-lamp therapy, and specialized bedding to prevent bedsores for animals that would never survive on the streets. 🐕 Rescue and Destitute Care Wagging Tales focuses on "destitute" strays those who have no one else. Critical Cases: They regularly rescue victims of horrific road accidents, animal cruelty and deadly diseases like Parvo and Distemper. Abandonment Support: We provide a permanent sanctuary for abandoned breed dogs and senior "Indies" who have been left behind by their owners. The Daily Feed: Beyond the shelter, the foundation manages a massive feeding network, providing over 700+ meals daily across South, Central, and West Delhi. ✂️ Sterilization (ABC) and Vaccination To tackle the root cause of animal suffering, Wagging Tales runs a robust Animal Birth Control (ABC) program. Targeting Rural Areas: We focus on "black holes" for animal welfare remote or rural areas outside the reach of municipal corporations where sterilization is non-existent. Community Partnership: We offer affordable sterilization services to local residents and "feeders" who want to fix the community animals in their own areas. Vaccination Drives: Every animal rescued or sterilized is also vaccinated against Rabies, ensuring the safety of both the animals and the people of Delhi NCR. 🏠 Adoption and "Passive Adoption" The foundation is a strong advocate for the #AdoptDontShop movement. Systematic Screening: Their adoption process is rigorous, involving interviews and house checks to ensure the animal never faces abandonment again. Passive Adoption: For those who cannot take a dog home, they offer a "Virtual Parent" program. You can sponsor the monthly food and medical expenses of a specific shelter dog and visit them on weekends to bond.
