Since
1966
Established in 1966, the Ramakrishna Mission Aalo has been serving the tribal communities of Arunachal Pradesh in the areas of education, healthcare, Read moreand livelihood. The centre's key initiatives include a non-residential English medium CBSE school (KG to Class XII) for approximately 1,400 boys and girls, a hostel accommodating 250 tribal boys from KG to Class VIII, and 13 non-formal schools for about 750 students (Classes I to IV) in remote areas. Additionally, the centre operates a charitable hospital with a mobile medical unit that serves over 15,000 patients annually and conducts health awareness programs benefiting around 45,000 people each year. Despite facing challenges such as harsh weather for eight months of the year, poor road connectivity, difficulty in obtaining daily supplies, and the challenge of recruiting trained teachers even at higher wages, along with limited and irregular funding from State and Central governments, the Mission has flourished as a hub of academic excellence in this remote region. Throughout the year, the Mission also carries out regular fire, winter, and distress relief efforts in the interior areas of Arunachal, providing essentials such as utensils, books, stationery, food grains, blankets, and clothing to approximately 7,000 underprivileged individuals annually. To support the children’s nutrition, the centre manages poultry, fishery, agriculture, and bakery units. Additionally, carpentry, printing press, and tailoring units provide in-house services for the residents.
