Its mission is to empower individuals and communities, enabling them to achieve their full potential in a sustainable and equitable manner. It works to uplift marginalized populations, endowing them with economic and social empowerment, dignity, and a meaningful contribution to society. From modest beginnings in Muzaffarpur, Prayatna has expanded its efforts in livelihood, healthcare, education, youth development, and sustainable development across various states in India, including Bihar, Delhi, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Jharkhand. The organisation envisions a change led and embraced by the communities themselves, upholding the principles of human rights and fostering dignity for the most deprived.


Prayatna has made impact with 45,000+ individuals receiving education, 1.5 million+ benefiting from healthcare, 10,000+ empowered with livelihood opportunities, over 100,000 people receiving emergency relief, 1,000+ youth engaged in development programs, and 550+ initiatives promoting sustainable development.

It conducts health camps and immunization campaigns, focusing on disease prevention awareness for Kala Azar, HIV, menstrual health, adolescent health, nutrition, water, and sanitation. The flagship Enterprise Development programme establishes Resource Centres equipped with trainers, machines, and materials to impart new skills or enhance existing ones, enabling beneficiaries to set up their own sustainable enterprises and pursue vocations of interest, addressing the lack of job opportunities effectively.

    Prayatna has actively engaged in emergency relief work, supporting people affected by natural disasters and calamities. Their initiatives include distributing medicines, conducting health camps, providing food, water, clothes, and essentials. During the COVID crisis, the organisation extended aid to migrant labourers with cooked food, dry ration, masks, and soaps in various regions, benefiting thousands of families daily. Additionally, it distributed handmade masks and soaps in Bihar, raising awareness about hygiene practices and social distancing to combat the virus's spread.
