The Indian government has designated Action for Food Production (AFPRO) as a "Organisation of National Importance." AFPRO has been committed to improv Read moreing the lives of underprivileged and marginalised populations in rural India since 1966. To enable efficient management of natural resources, we offer socio-technical assistance in areas including water, sanitation, watershed management, livelihood diversification, and climate change. By enhancing their resource base and capacities through better knowledge and skills in both technical and socioeconomic development areas, we hope to empower rural communities. India experienced severe droughts in the 1960s, which primarily affected the states of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. The idea and establishment of AFPRO were prompted by the pressing need for water for irrigation and consumption.
