Dhwani, established in 1984, is a non-profit arts organisation dedicated to promoting cultural literacy through dance performances and arts education. Read more It is recognized by the Ministry of Culture and affiliated with The Indian Council for Cultural Relations. Under the leadership of Smt. Vaswati Misra, Dhwani oversees the Pandit Shambhu Maharaj Kathak Academy, offering classes in Kathak dance and Hindustani classical music for both amateurs and aspiring professionals. Additionally, Dhwani's repertory, known as Srijan, features professional dancers and musicians who blend contemporary elements with traditional Kathak, performing at national and international festivals and creating custom productions for ministries and corporate events. Through its Manch initiative, Dhwani curates performances and events showcasing both seasoned artists and emerging talents, exposing audiences to diverse art forms and nurturing new spectators. Since its inception, Dhwani has upheld its mission of promoting excellence in the performing arts, starting with its inaugural Rasaarchana festival at the Kamani Auditorium in 1986.

Pandit Shambhu Maharaj Kathak Academy
The institute, inspired by the legacy of Pt. Shambhu Maharaj has offered Kathak dance training since 1999 under the direction of Vaswati Misra. It provides two courses: General for those who prefer a relaxed learning environment, and Certificate for aspiring professionals. The General Course emphasizes individualized learning without formal exams, while the Certificate Course offers structured training with exams at three levels: Diploma, Vishaarad, and Nipun. Students completing Nipun may join the Dhwani Repertory. Additionally, the academy offers online classes, a Bridge Course for adults, Ankur for young children, and a short-term course for overseas students.

Other Programmes
Dhwani offers a range of programmes, including a Kathak training institute and a repertory of professional dancers and musicians recognized by the Ministry of Culture and ICCR. Graduates of the Kathak Academy may join the repertory after completing the 'Nipun' level. The organization also hosts performances by both established and emerging artists and pioneers Ekalavya, an innovative online Kathak learning platform designed by Vaswati Misra. Ekalavya caters to beginners and those seeking self-improvement, providing accessible Kathak instruction from home. Dhwani further conducts workshops, and events, and creates custom works for various partners, including businesses and Government agencies, inviting collaboration.
