Digital Empowerment Foundation (DEF) is dedicated to promoting digital inclusion and empowering disadvantaged communities. It focuses on bridging the digital divide and making technology easily accessible to the masses, with a particular emphasis on empowering women, youth, individuals with disabilities, and the elderly. Through initiatives such as digital literacy, media literacy, and digital up-skilling, it aims to enhance the lives of individuals in various sectors including agriculture, micro and nano-business, health, education, livelihood, and entrepreneurship. It envisions a digital revolution that eliminates information poverty and social backwardness. The organisation operates through six programmatic verticals, which encompass areas such as access and infrastructure, governance and entitlements, education and empowerment, markets and social enterprise, knowledge hub and database, as well as advocacy and research. With a widespread network of Community Information Resource Centers and digital foot soldiers across rural, tribal, deprived, and unreached regions, DEF has positively impacted over 30 million individuals, including those living below the poverty line, artisans, and the elderly.
