The Girl Rising India Foundation is dedicated to empowering girls through education. It was inspired by the discovery that educating girls is key to e Read morending global poverty. Many girls face obstacles like early marriage, trafficking, and violence, keeping them out of school. The foundation uses powerful storytelling, like the Girl Rising film, to inspire change in how society values girls. The film, "Woh Padhegi, Woh Udegi," directed by Richard E. Robbins and featuring Bollywood stars like Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Freida Pinto, showcases girls overcoming barriers to education. In India, the film was launched in 2015 with support from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Ministry of Women and Child Development. It aired nationally and reached 6.1 million households. Today, Girl Rising India works as a non-profit, using storytelling to promote gender equality and empower girls.
