Happy Horizons Trust is actively addressing the educational challenges in India by offering targeted programmes to foster holistic learning and system Read moreic change. Approximately 50% of class 5 students struggle to read even a class 2 text fluently, while over 60% experience malnutrition-related setbacks in growth and motor skills. The organisation recognizes the decline in critical thinking among students due to rote learning and a lack of encouragement for questioning. Furthermore, the country faces a significant shortage of trained teachers, highlighting the need for improved teacher training to enhance the learning process. Additionally, only 20% of graduates are job-ready without external training, and many graduates lack clarity about potential careers. To bring about comprehensive change, Happy Horizons Trust implements structured programmes that intervene within the existing education system across various school years and interactions with diverse stakeholders. Its primary school initiatives focus on critical reasoning, self-confidence through storytelling, book readings, motor skills development, and fostering motivation. In middle school, students engage in design thinking workshops, craft-based skills learning, video-based learning, book design workshops, and digital literacy programmes. High school students benefit from digital literacy and internet training, leadership development, career awareness seminars, skills enhancement, and professional development opportunities. These efforts collectively strive to transform the educational landscape for better learning outcomes and holistic growth.
