Programs

  • Save Water Programme

The institution focuses on strategic water management and conservation, recognizing water's essential role while addressing its challenges. Amid pollution and scarcity concerns, it emphasizes planned resource usage. With a sustainable vision, it aims to balance present needs and future sustainability, viewing freshwater as finite yet crucial. Watershed areas serve as key units for effective resource management. In Uttarakhand, despite natural abundance, water scarcity emerges due to population growth and erosion. Surprisingly, conserving a fraction of annual rainfall could alleviate this crisis. The institution drives awareness and employs techniques like water harvesting. Preserving traditional sources and monitoring water quality is pivotal. By merging water conservation and income generation, it enhances efforts. Ultimately, the institution's mission centres on conserving and efficiently managing water resources, acknowledging its paramount importance for societal well-being.

  • AIDS Programme

The organisation addresses the grave public health issue of AIDS, caused by HIV. It acknowledges how HIV weakens the body's immune system, leaving it susceptible to infections. Attacking white blood cells, it impairs the body's defence mechanism, making patients prone to secondary infections that often prove fatal.

AIDS spreads through unprotected sex, blood transmission, and from mother to child during pregnancy or birth. The organisation recognizes AIDS' swift spread in India and its potential to escalate into a major societal, economic, and health problem if left unchecked. While cures and vaccines remain distant, the focus is on prevention through awareness, advocating healthier lifestyles, and creating supportive environments for those affected. Heightened knowledge is seen as pivotal in curbing the disease's propagation, particularly in densely populated countries like India.

  • Say No to Drugs Programme

The "Say No To Drugs" initiative by the organisation addresses the rising global youth drug abuse crisis, including in India. Addictions affect individuals, families, and societies, transcending demographics. Adolescents are especially vulnerable due to peer pressure, academic struggles, and curiosity. Research from the National Drug Dependence Treatment Centre and All India Institute of Medical Sciences highlights alcohol, tobacco, and inhalants as initially accessible substances. Prevention education is central, imparting resistance skills to shield school children from life-altering drugs. The strategy fosters skills like self-esteem and decision-making. "Project Venda" empowers teens to reject substance abuse and support addicted youth. Stakeholders acquire skills to address drugs with youths, partnering with parents and communities to integrate messages for improved student well-being.

  • Education Programme

The organisation is dedicated to advancing education for girls, women, and boys. Education has been a constant throughout human history, regardless of formal institutions. It is an essential necessity that imparts the skills required to excel in a competitive world. Education's significance extends to discerning right from wrong. The definition of education encompasses teaching, knowledge, skills, and character development. This implies empowerment beyond economic realms. Education is not confined to income or jobs; it extends to broader societal benefits like improved healthcare, smaller families, civic engagement, reduced inequality, and poverty alleviation. The organisation recognizes education's contribution to various social advancements, including hygiene, lowered mortality, controlled population growth, increased labour productivity, heightened political participation, democratization, and strengthened national unity.

  • Blood Donation Programme

The organisation's "Blood Donation" initiative focuses on establishing a secure and high-quality Blood Transfusion Service. The programme prioritizes blood collection from voluntary non-remunerated donors due to its safety. To boost voluntary blood donation across the nation, an operational guideline was developed. This guideline encompasses donor recruitment and retention, vital for this endeavour.

Securing safe donors poses challenges, requiring public acknowledgement of blood donation as a personal responsibility. Individual participation is indispensable for sustaining healthcare systems, including Blood Banks, hospitals, and Government efforts.

This comprehensive guideline enhances voluntary blood collection efforts, covering all aspects of the programme, including organising Voluntary Blood Donation camps. It is a valuable resource for stakeholders engaged in the country's voluntary blood donation programme, facilitating its vital work.
