The Ferrando Speech and Hearing Centre (FSHC) serves hearing-impaired children primarily hailing from the North East Region of India, including Assam, Read more Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Nagaland. Additionally, it extends its services to a few children from Kolkata and Bihar. FSHC concentrates on early detection, intervention, preschool education, and minimizing avoidable hearing impairment effects in young children. The organisation adopts a holistic approach, offering care to the children and empowering families to navigate the challenges of raising hearing-impaired children. Its comprehensive programmes cover early intervention, education, rehabilitation, vocational training, and manpower development for the hearing impaired. FSHC provides a preschool, a school catering to hearing-impaired children, and a hostel for those residing in distant areas, including regions like Khasi & Jantia Hills and parts of the state toward Guwahati. With the backing of CBM, the centre has expanded its services to include a Vision Centre and Orthopaedic Workshop.
