The Balasore Chamber of Industries & Commerce, founded in 1989 as a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO)/Voluntary Organisation (VO)/Non-Profit Organis Read moreation (NPO), operates with a broad focus. It addresses critical issues like Agriculture, Education & Literacy, Food Processing, Health & Family Welfare, Information & Communication Technology, Legal Awareness & Aid, Labour & Employment, Micro Small & Medium Enterprises, New & Renewable Energy, Tourism, Vocational Training, Women's Development & Empowerment, and Youth Affairs. It functions as a unified voice in various forums, dealing with topics such as excise, commercial taxes, railways, labour, EPF, ESI, and various committees in both industrial and commercial domains. The chamber's main goals include providing a unified platform for representing members' interests in industrial, commercial, and labour-related matters to Government authorities, tribunals, labour courts, and other relevant bodies. It aims to promote industry, trade, and services in the Balasore district and surrounding areas. Additionally, the chamber advocates for member interests, fosters harmonious relations between members and employees, and supports cultural, social, and philanthropic initiatives. It actively raises funds, organises exhibitions and enterprise development programmes, provides counselling for enterprise promotion, maintains a data bank, and supports new entrepreneurs. This organisation serves as a catalyst for promoting entrepreneurship at the district level, with its membership spanning surrounding districts.

Entrepreneur Skill Development Training Programme
With the aim of fostering rural employment opportunities and raising awareness about self-employment prospects, the MSME Development Institute, Government of India, Cuttack, collaborated with the Balasore Chamber of Industries and Commerce to conduct a six-week Entrepreneur Skill Development Training on Bamboo Craft in Jamujhadi, Bhadrak district, commencing on June 22, 2010. Twenty-two women from nearby villages underwent training in crafting various bamboo-based handicraft products, utilizing locally available resources.

Workshop on Entrepreneurship Orientation
Balasore Chamber of Industries and Commerce conducted an Entrepreneurship Orientation Programme on December 17, 2010, as part of the PLASTIC CLUSTER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME, focusing on the development of a plastic cluster. Sri H.K. Mohanty, Executive President of Corporate Consulting International in New Delhi, served as the resource person for the event. The programme attracted participation from representatives of various industries.

Skill Upgradation Training Programme
A six-week Skill Upgradation Training Program in FASHION DESIGN, sponsored by MSME Development Institute, Govt. of India, Cuttack, in collaboration with Balasore Chamber of Industries and Commerce, took place at SITD, ADM Square and concluded on February 4, 2011. This programme trained 25 women. Concurrently, another Skill Development Training Program on BEAUTICIAN commenced on the same date, also sponsored by the MSME Development Institute, with 25 women currently undergoing training.

Design Clinic Awareness Programme
A workshop on DESIGN CLINIC AWARENESS took place on March 11, 2011, with CTTC, the Govt. of India Bhubaneswar, and the Balasore Chamber of Industries and Commerce collaborating. The session explained CTTC's role, showcased Design Clinic initiatives, and detailed promotional policies and schemes by DC, MSME, Govt. of India, highlighting their benefits for SMEs. Experts encouraged SMEs to seize these opportunities, emphasizing the importance of product and system design for market competitiveness. An interactive session concluded the programme.

Interaction Programme on E-Service by Commercial Tax Dept
An interaction session regarding tax return submission was conducted by the Balasore Chamber of Industries & Commerce on March 3, 2011, under the guidance of Sri Himansu Das, the President. Resource persons Sri Surendra Behera, Jt. Commissioner, and Sri Subrat Senapati, Dy. The Commissioner of Commercial Tax provided a detailed explanation of tax return submission and preparation processes with the Commercial Tax Authority. The event facilitated discussions on challenges faced by tax consultants, industries, and trade and commerce entities at the grassroots level.

Awareness programme on Quality and Productivity
Balasore Chamber of Industries and Commerce conducted a one-day Awareness Programme on Quality and Productivity on July 3, 2010, focusing on soft interventions for the development of the plastic cluster. Chaired by Sri Himansu Das, President of the Chamber, the program featured Dr. D. K. Choudhury, Deputy Director General, BIS, Kolkata, who provided detailed insights into quality standards for various products, including Gold & Silver. The aim was to enhance productivity while maintaining competitiveness. Representatives from diverse industries, trade, and commerce establishments participated in the event.
