Sri Nrusinga Dev Anchalika Yuba Parisada (SNDAYP) is a registered, non-political, non-profit social welfare organization dedicated to transforming the Read more lives of marginalized groups, including individuals with disabilities, women, economically disadvantaged populations, and oppressed communities. Focusing primarily on rural areas, SNDAYP addresses fundamental needs such as health, education, employment, vocational training, capacity building, and combating gender discrimination and inequality. Guided by a respect for human dignity and traditional values, the organization emphasizes a holistic and integrated approach to development. SNDAYP works in collaboration with local government administrations, NGOs, Gram Panchayats, and women self-help groups that it has nurtured. Its strength lies in its network of youth volunteers, who act as key facilitators within the community, driving tangible and sustainable change. Through partnerships and alliances, SNDAYP strives to create a meaningful impact, fostering empowerment and equality for the most vulnerable sections of society.

Programs

  • Training on basic life skills

    With the support of Tech Mahindra Foundation, SNDAYP organized a training program titled “Training for Adolescent Disabled Girls on Basic Life Skills, along with Their Mothers on Health, Sexual Behavior, Sanitation, and Personal Hygiene”. The sessions were held at the ASHA Centre in Chandanpur.

    A total of 145 participants attended the program, including 76 adolescent girls and 69 mothers. The training aimed to equip participants with essential life skills to enhance the well-being and support of girls with disabilities.

    Upon completion, an evaluation by the resource person revealed that participants had gained significant knowledge and understanding of the discussed topics, empowering them to maintain and support a better quality of life for adolescent girls with disabilities.

  • Deaf awareness program with community members

    This initiative aimed to enhance awareness and sensitivity among community members about issues faced by individuals who are deaf, including challenges related to their sustainability and inclusion.

    The deaf awareness sessions were conducted across eight villages in Sadar Block and five slums within the Puri Municipality. The sessions provided valuable learning opportunities for community members.

    Key topics covered included:

    * Types of disabilities and early identification of deafness in children.
    * Possible causes, prevention strategies, and steps to take after identification.
    * Challenges faced by deaf children in daily life, including reasons behind behaviors like isolation, anger, or stubbornness, and practical solutions to address these issues.

  • Day care center for children with disabilities

    With continued support from the Social Security and Empowerment for Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) Department, Government of Odisha, SNDAYP Puri is successfully running a day care center dedicated to 100 children with disabilities. This initiative is part of the project “Rehabilitation of Physically and Mentally Challenged Socially Disadvantaged Persons” and operates from the ASHA Rehabilitation Centre in Birapratappur, Pachasapolo, Puri.

    The center provides effective therapeutic interventions, offering significant benefits to children with disabilities. The program has been warmly received by beneficiaries, who are finding the services provided by the state government and SSEPD highly impactful and transformative.
