It is known as the State Cancer Institute, the highest authority, and is a Regional Centre for Cancer Research and Treatment.   • Education & Training

    The Cancer Institute (WIA) serves as a national training ground for oncologists. In response to the requirement for information to be updated constantly and for the advancement of human resources, the nation's first super-specialty courses in DM in Medical Oncology and MCh in Surgical Oncology were established in 1984. The MD (Radiotherapy), BSc, MSc, MPhil, PhD, and certificate programs and fellowships in numerous other fields are currently housed at the institute. Our ambassadors are former students.

Milestones & Track Record

The institute has achieved several firsts, including introducing the first Cobalt beam treatment unit in the country, installing South East Asia's first Linear Accelerator, and starting the first MCh surgical oncology and DM medical oncology courses in India.
