A not-for-profit organisation started in 1992,which has been providing remedial help and support to children with learning disabilities like dyslexia, Read more and their parents as well as spreading awareness to the community at large, helping schools to set up Resource Rooms and conduct teacher training programmes. Around 40,000 children have benefitted from various activities of MDA in the past 21 years. MDA has designed and developed a range of awareness and remedial training programs for helping dyslexic children and is ready to share all its knowledge and expertise in the areas of identification, assessment, remediation techniques, and teacher training to overcome this learning difficulty. Soon, our one week training programme will be available online in digitised format. We also offer after-school remediation help at our premises. MDA also runs a full time remediation centre called ANANYA for children who need a pull out programme. MDA has also devised a remediation programme in Tamil. Our aim is to create a dyslexia sensitive society.

Programs

  • Awareness

    Raises awareness in the following ways, among others:
    Awareness talks are held in public places such as social groups, business meetings, and parent-teacher conferences at schools.
    Awareness talks are held in schools.
    television and radio programmes.
    articles about dyslexia published in Tamil and English periodicals and newspapers.
    Use a movie or puppets to raise awareness.
    Share information on Facebook, Twitter, the website, and the quarterly newsletter.

  • Guidance and Counselling

    After a session, a thorough conversation is had with the parents, and one or more of the following may be suggested.
    An evaluation for education
    A dyslexia screening exam
    a recommendation to other organisations that could meet the child's needs for assistance. This is particularly provided if the youngster does not have dyslexia.
    requested to bring a report from experts in several disciplines, such as speech and occupational therapists. Counsellors to better comprehend and assist the youngster.
    referred to a clinical psychologist for a cognitive evaluation.
    referral for a kid to receive treatment for Attention Deficit Disorder or any other ailment from a paediatric psychiatrist or occupational therapist.
    if necessary, a referral to a speech specialist for evaluation and speech therapy
