The Rajammal Trust for Special Children, operating since 2002, oversees the Kumaran Special School, where dedicated staff under the leadership of Mrs. Read more Senthamizhselvi work tirelessly to integrate special needs children into society. Through custom-curated curriculums, the school ensures that each child receives tailored opportunities to meet their individual needs. In collaboration with the Rajammal Trust, the school has evolved from a modest start with 5 children in 2002 to now educating over 65 boys and girls. The organisation's mission revolves around alleviating the challenges faced by special needs children. It focuses on integration and capacity-building programmes, combining primary health and special education services. Prioritizing mentally vulnerable children from socio-economically weaker sections, the aim is to guide them towards a path of normal social and personal livelihood. The vision of the Rajammal Trust is to create equal opportunities for special needs children, fostering their inclusion in the broader community and society.

Quality Education Programme
The organisation, dedicated to special needs children, focuses on ensuring quality education through a comprehensive programme at Kumaran Special School. It covers daily routine management, life skills, etiquette, employability skills, social interactions, and financial literacy. The emphasis on vocational training, sensory integration, sports, yoga, and various therapies contributes to holistic child development. Notably, it provides pediatric physiotherapy, music and mantra therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy, and drama therapy. The school actively engages in projects like skill training, job placement, residential accommodations, community-based rehabilitation, and accessibility of assisted technology devices. Additional activities include adapted yoga, psychiatric intervention, recreational sports, and respite care services for parents. The goal is to equip these children for sustainable employment, higher education, and overall well-being.
