Vikas Seva Sanstha (VSS) is a non-profit, non-governmental, and secular development organization located in Shrigonda, Ahmednagar. VSS is driven by Read morea team of dedicated professionals who have chosen to devote their lives to education. These individuals have diverse backgrounds, including experience in the corporate sector. They have united to support the cause of educating children and nurturing their potential for a brighter and more prosperous future, recognizing that they are the future citizens of our society. Many of the children under VSS's care come from nearby villages, typically from families with limited access to quality education and opportunities due to their illiterate backgrounds. VSS aims to provide these children with guidance and valuable knowledge, offering them accommodation for their overall development to become responsible individuals. Regardless of their caste, religion, or social status, students are welcome at VSS. The organization aspires to offer top-notch facilities and guidance to students as they prepare for competitive exams. The learning infrastructure includes computers, a library, and more. VSS can accommodate up to 50 students. The organisation’s inspiration stems from prominent national social workers who have dedicated their lives to meaningful causes. These individuals include Baba Amte, Dr. Vikas Amte (founder of Anandwan), Dr. S. N. Subbarao (associated with NYP), Dr. Girish Kulkarni (founder of Snehalaya), Loknayak Anna Hazare, Mr. Popatrao Pawar, Mr. Ramakant Tamboli, Shalinitai Makhija of Pune, and I.P.S. Vishvasrao Nangrepatil, DIG Bombay. Anant, the founder of the organisation, who initially worked as a humble peon in a rural school, envisioned that education is the most powerful tool for transforming individuals, society, and the entire nation. He believed that education should extend beyond mere academic instruction. Beyond addressing a child's basic material needs, the organisation’s comprehensive rehabilitation approach is cantered on restoring a secure and nurturing childhood. Prioritizing children's happiness, security, and sense of belonging is as critical as fostering their academic and professional development, especially considering their backgrounds, which are often marked by extreme vulnerability.

Computer education
VSS initiated a crucial education module, establishing a well-equipped computer lab generously provided by volunteers. In this lab, VSS offers fundamental computer training for the children, covering various applications like M. S. Word, M. S. Office, PowerPoint, and M.S. Paint. It has engaged specialized corporate trainers to facilitate this training. To make the learning process engaging, educational games suitable for children between 10 and 14 years are available. These computer classes are conducted every weekend, with the assistance of corporate trainers, and last for 2 hours.

Basic amenities
Food and nutrition - VSS places strong emphasis on providing children with a highly nutritious diet. It firmly believes that wholesome food fosters clear thinking in children.
Shelter – The organisation is in the process of redeveloping an old Wada to provide a safe haven for underprivileged children. This Wada consists of six rooms. -
Education
VSS offers access to quality education both within and outside the classroom. Education transcends traditional schooling and exam scores. It encompasses values like discipline, soft skills, lessons drawn from life experiences, and spiritual education.

Health
For common health issues and emergencies, the organisation promptly arranges visits to local general physicians, and these consultations are provided at no cost. Prescription medications are procured from a nearby pharmacy. Additionally, it organizes periodic medical camps, including general health check-ups, dental care, and eye examinations.

Library
The objective of this project is to promote reading in English, Hindi, and Marathi by providing access to newspapers, magazines, and books. The organisation has also furnished the library with a DVD player and TV for audio-visual resources. Children in rural areas often have limited opportunities for constructive recreational activities. Thus, the library offers them a way to utilize their free time productively and cultivate reading as a hobby. The organisation has collected over 400 books catering to all age groups, along with subscriptions to 8 magazines through generous donations. Currently, the books are not available for borrowing; instead, the entire village community is welcome to visit the library and utilize its resources free of charge.

Bal-bhawan
Bal-bhawan, a distinctive catalyst for social transformation, is a highly successful initiative primarily dedicated to enhancing the education and healthcare of children residing in slum areas around Shrigonda and its neighbouring villages and talukas. VSS operates Bal-bhawans within the community halls of these slums. The activities conducted at these Bal-bhawans encompass playgroup education, tutoring, health check-up camps, fostering awareness regarding communal harmony, promoting good health and cleanliness, and elucidating the repercussions of unhealthy habits. This endeavour benefits approximately 50 children by providing them with primary education. Bal-bhawans also play a pivotal role in nurturing the children's oratory and reading skills, imparting computer knowledge, and encouraging their talents in drawing, music, dance, and crafts.
