Aashray For Sick And Helpless Animals, founded on June 21, 2011, in Varanasi, is a registered charitable trust with an 80G certificate under the Incom Read moree Tax Act. However, Aashray is more than just a legal entity; it embodies a philosophy guiding all its activities. Aashray, which translates to "providing shelter," reflects the lifelong commitment of its director, Mrs. Abha Singh, who, for over 40 years, has dedicated herself to animal welfare. Aashray strives not only to give injured, sick, and abandoned animals a second chance at life but also to heal their souls from the cruelties they've endured. The organisation aims to provide a life free from worries about food, shelter, and safety for these animals, addressing their basic needs. While Aashray's infrastructure is basic, its unwavering passion and determination to improve the condition of animals in Varanasi are strong. It seeks to make healthcare accessible and affordable for all pet owners and animal enthusiasts.

Programs
-
Pet Boarding Facility
It offers a pet boarding service to assist pet owners facing unexpected travel or emergencies, providing a safe and caring environment for their beloved animals for a duration of one week to a month, for a nominal fee.
-
Animal Birth Control (ABC) Programme
A.B.C., or Animal Birth Control, involves surgically removing animal reproductive organs to control the population. Unchecked, a single female dog and her offspring can produce over 67,000 puppies in six years. A.B.C. prevents suffering, reduces health risks, and minimizes conflicts like dog bites. Spaying (females) and neutering (males) are vital. The Indian Government supports this through the Animal Birth Control (ABC) (Dogs) Rules, 2001, providing financial assistance to municipalities and NGOs for sterilization and immunization to curb dog overpopulation.
-
Medical Facilities
Aashray For Sick And Helpless Animals provides medical facilities with two key goals: delivering optimal care to animals within their means and ensuring treatment accessibility for all. It offers a wide range of services, from basic animal treatments to surgeries for complex conditions like tumours and fractures.
-
Ambulance Services
Aashray For Sick And Helpless Animals provides ambulance services to transport animals in need of medical care to their shelter. While there is an ambulance fee for bringing injured street or community animals to the shelter, all subsequent treatment at the shelter is provided free of charge, with no strings attached. Once the animals recover, they are either returned to their territory or made available for adoption at the shelter. The ambulance service is also available for pet animals, with fees depending on the type of vehicle required, including 2-wheelers with cages for small animals at ₹500 and 4-wheelers for larger animals at ₹1000, covering pick-up, drop-off, and catcher fees.
