Cancer Aid Society is an ISO 9001 NGO working across India since 1987 on prevention of Cancer, other NCDs, Tobacco and Pain and Palliative Care across Read more India. Goal No. 3 of SDGs 2030 “Good Health and Well Being” has been targeted by us through Advocacy and Awareness. Under “Good Health” the organisation campaigns on preventive health and on “Well Being”, it focuses on Palliative Care. The organisation has offices at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmadabad, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Head Office Lucknow. The organisation is in Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council since 2012, Associate Department of Global Communication of United Nations since 2019 and Registered Participant of World Health Organization's Global Coordination Mechanism on Non Communicable Diseases. It has earned several Recognition viz. Best Cancer Awareness NGO/ Program, Best NGO in Health Care, Best Award for Cancer Prevention and many more. The International participation involves 2011 High Level Meeting on NCDs and 2014 Review Meeting at United Nations, Dialogues under WHO’s GCM/NCD in April 2015 and November 2015 at Geneva, in 2016 at Mauritius, in 2017 NCD Global Conference at Uruguay, in 2019 Global Meeting on SDGs 3.4 on NCDs and Mental Health at Oman etc. It organize training in Palliative Care, Pain Management, availability and use of Oral Morphine. It assists terminally ill patients and families through counselling, guidance, moral support, referral services for treatment and palliative care centres and has a Helpline No. 9335166600. Keeping up with the ages old adage “Prevention is better than cure”, it organizes awareness campaigns in thousands of Institutions mobilizing about a million volunteers every year generating awareness among twenty million people all over India through campaigns on the harmful effects of Tobacco including Passive Smoking, Alcohol, Drugs, Obesity, Carcinogens, Pollution of Air, Water and Land along with the benefits of Healthy Lifestyle such as Balanced Diet rich in antioxidants and roughage, Physical Activity/ Exercise, Clean drinking Water, Genital and Personal Hygiene along with symptoms of Cancer for early detection and treatment etc. Presently 80% cancer patients reach the doctors in the incurable stages where precious human lives are lost. Pamphlets (published in 12 Indian languages) along with pictorial illustrations generate a high level awareness about tobacco, non-communicable diseases (Heart Attacks, Respiratory and Diabetics) and early symptoms of Cancer. The organisation has successfully executed projects for Palliative Care, Cancer Pain Policy, Availability of Oral Morphine, establishment of Homeopathic Dispensary, organizing rural Camps, Tele-medicine vehicle etc.

Palliative Care Workshops at ERA Medical College
StateCancer Aid Society and Alpha Palliative Care Kerala collaborated to host a comprehensive 3-day Palliative Care Workshop at ERA Medical College and ERA University. The workshop catered to final-year students from various disciplines such as MBBS, Pharmacy, Lab Technicians, and Physiotherapy. Dr. Abbas Ali Mahdi, the Vice Chancellor, inaugurated the event, stressing the vital significance of Palliative Care for the welfare of the broader population. Dr. Anurag Agarwal, Associate Professor at RML Institute of Medical Sciences, delivered a keynote address focusing on Pain Management, while Dr. Shivani Rastogi from RMLIMS discussed Oral Morphine.

Cancer Aid Society at United Nations Headquarters in New York
Cancer Aid Society, representing India, actively participated in the High-Level Meeting focused on controlling Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
Mr. Piyush Gupta, Principal Executive Officer of Cancer Aid Society, and Dr. Pankaj Chaturvedi from Tata Memorial Hospital were the key representatives at the UN Meeting, displaying the Cancer Aid Society badge.
This gathering marked the inaugural collaboration between Global Governments and Civil Society Representatives from 270 organizations worldwide, convening to address the significant threat posed by Non-Communicable Diseases, which account for 70% of all fatalities.
