Family Planning Awareness Programme
The Institute of Social Development Chitrakoot, in partnership with Global Health Strategies Lucknow and Sathi Faizabad, executed a Family Planning awareness programme in 20 villages of Chitrakoot District over two Blocks, receiving financial backing from G.H.S. Lucknow and networking support from Sathi Faizabad Uttar Pradesh. Lasting from January 1, 2019, to June 30, 2019, the initiative involved the selection of 20 champions, including ASHA workers, a women's group member, a male representative, and community members, who organised meetings with target couples to educate them about various family planning methods and addressed issues such as service availability, societal challenges, and misconceptions. These champions engaged in community events, like the Saas Bahu Sammelan, aiming to heighten the demand for family planning services and offered solutions to challenges including early marriage and societal pressures related to childbirth soon after marriage.
