SPARC provides rehabilitation services to persons with disabilities (PWDs) and their families through its various developmental initiatives in the fie Read moreld of education, skill development and livelihood generation. The organisation has established a special school in collaboration with Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, Jyoti Kiran, for children affected with Cerebral Palsy. The school has 55 students who suffer from cerebral palsy and other forms of disability such as hearing impairment, speech impairment, vision impairment and mental retardation. Its second initiative is Community Based Rehabilitation programme which is in collaboration with international organisations such as Action Aid and CORDAID. The objectives of the initiative include medical interventions such as training midwives on conducting safe deliveries, training mentally challenged and visually impaired children to perform their daily chores and providing tricycle, crutches, wheel chairs, toilet chairs and hearing aids. Also, the initiative includes awareness programs and establishment of a resource centre which provide therapeutic intervention on multiple disabilities. Further, the initiative includes financial management training and entrepreneurship development programs. The organisation's third initiative includes the Livelihood Resource Centre (LRC) in collaboration with Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled which includes establishment of training centre for persons with disability for skill development. The fourth initiative by the organisation includes The Poorest Areas Civil Society (PACS) Programme which is in collaboration with the UK Government’s Department for International Development (DFID) and is aimed at reducing the gap in well-being between socially excluded groups in India and the rest of the population through non-discriminatory access to healthcare systems.

  • Jyoti Kiran School

    Established in 2003 with support from Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, Jyoti Kiran School in Lucknow serves 55 children with cerebral palsy and other disabilities. Its main goals include strengthening education and mobility, empowering children with disabilities to access their educational rights, and fostering overall development for inclusive education. The school offers various activities such as regular classes, therapy sessions, counseling, and advocacy efforts.

  • Skill Development and Placement Program for Youths with Disabilities

    The Skill Development and Placement (SDP) Program, a partnership between DFID and SPARC India, offers a three-month residential training for youths with disabilities, focusing on life skills and technical skills in fields like IT/ITES/BPO, Data Entry Operator, and Retail. Participants undergo a thorough selection process and continuous assessment, leading to certification upon completion. Job fairs are organized post-training to facilitate employment opportunities, with ongoing support provided to both participants and employers.
